Trying to expand electrical storage. I'm still a rookie, so not familiar with all the do's and don'ts. I have three lifepower4 batteries and just got the powerpro indoor battery.... then was told you cannot parallel those batteries together. My question is, does that mean I do not have that storage capacity or does it just mean I cannot set up closed loop communication? Do I have 580 amp hours? even though my inverters to do read it?

second question, what is the best configuration and/or is there a way to get them all to communicate with each other?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Lifepower4 V1 batteries are not compatible with Wallmount batteries for communication. However, you can still connect them in parallel. It is recommended to parallel three server rack batteries for every one Wallmount battery to keep the Ah ratings as similar as possible. The batteries should be used in open-loop mode, with a monthly full top balance of the cells to prevent voltage drift due to the difference in capacity between the two banks.

@jared Thanks for your reply.

I have a quick question regarding the new EG4 LL‑S 48V 100Ah batteries. If I set up two PowerPro indoor batteries (280Ah each) alongside two LL‑S batteries (100Ah each), will they communicate properly and work together with an 18kPV inverter? Or would it be necessary to add another LL‑S unit to round things out to a more balanced 300Ah bank?

I appreciate your insight on the optimal system design and how the BMS handles these mixed configurations.

@og0088 Good afternoon!
It is highly recommended to have three server rack batteries per PowerPro battery. As you mentioned, this setup will help maintain batteries balanced properly and ensure more even usage. While two LL-S batteries can communicate, the battery bank will not charge and discharge evenly.

@eric Thank you for your prompt reply, Eric!

I have a quick follow-up question: If I have two PowerPro batteries, can I still parallel them with a single group of ll-s batteries (three units)? Essentially, can I configure the system like this—substituting the final PowerPro battery with three ll-s batteries in an EG4 cabinet?

I apologize for the delay; I was waiting for a response from our battery technicians.

They advised that you will need external bus bars to connect them together. Additionally, if you proceed with this setup, it’s important to monitor the battery bank closely due to the natural imbalance between each server rack battery.

@eric Thank you, Eric. No worry at all! I'm considering an alternative setup: integrating a 6000XP (or possibly a 3000EHV-48) inverter to connect the server rack, then linking that subsystem to the Gen terminal of the 18kPV. I understand that the 18kPV now supports Gen Boost, which could potentially enhance overall output (not recommended) and provide additional MPPT channels for more PV input.

Please let me know if this configuration works for you or if you have any concerns.
