I am installing a grid tied solar setup with a GridBoss, FlexBoss 21, 18 panels, and 14KW battery. My question is around using a portable gas powered generator with this setup. I had previously used a Reliance Controls Pro/Tran 2 30Amp transfer switch to drive critical circuits in my house when the power went out. This worked well with a little 4500W gas generator.
Can I use a similar setup hooked into the GridBoss? I suspect that this will work, in zombie apocalypse scenario where the a) the grid is down, b) the panels are covered in snow, c) the battery has been drained. The goal would be to only use the generator to recharge the battery, or to just run a few circuits.
Anyone done this or have ideas?
