I have 6000xp and 12000xp running at two different (off-grid) sites, both "open-loop" with no comms from batteries to inverter. The 6000xp shows a temp value in Data History "tBat(C)" which looks to correspond to ambient temp on the intake side of the fans inside the inverter. The 12000xp shows 0.

Is there a setting, switch, or sensor missing from the 12000xp that can be enabled? I'd really like to see the ambient temp in the "solar sheds" if possible to know how close to freezing they are getting overnight.

This is a good question.
I am contacting our R&D team about this. I don't know of any setting that will activate or enable that data.

@eg4eric I find it interesting that the 6000xp apparently has SOME internal temp sensor for ambient, but the 12000xp does not. I do have some temp sensors left over from old lead-acid battery installs... could I plug these into the 12000xp  just to have a reading on ambient temp in battery shed ?

If you have WiFi at the sites, you could place wireless temperature sensors that you can monitor remotely. This isn't a product plug, but I bought a set of sensors on Amazon from a vendor called "Govee" which have worked very well for over a year. The sensors are wireless over Bluetooth to a central wireless hub that's WiFi to the cloud. I have sensors inside my battery rack and next to my inverter. One nice benefit is all the data is logged so you can view the temperature graphs over time to see min / max values, trends, etc.
