I’m having a strange issue with my EG4-6000XP.

During the day, when a cloud passes, both PV input drop to almost 0–100 W and stay stuck like that, even if the sun comes back. They only recover to ~4kw or ~5kw if I turn PV OFF/ON and it is not cloudy.

I also discovered that PV1 shows a “ghost” voltage (13–30 V) at night, from the logs this started on October 31st. I did measure the inverter PV terminals and both reads ~0.5V so whatever it is, it seems to be internal to the inverter.

I dis some testing today:

  • If I disconnect PV1 completely, the issue still happens with PV2 alone (Power stuck at ~100w).
  • If I move the PV2 array to MPPT1, I get some power again, but MPPT2 starts showing ghost voltage in the inverter, not in the terminals (around 17 V).
  • Probably worth mentioning that I received the error E017: Internal communication fault 2 a couple of times before this started, but as the manual says I just rebooted the inverter and the error went away.

I am on ccaa-190D0E firmware and see there is a new one, not sure if upgrading it would make any difference though.

Is this a known software issue or can you help me trouble shoot this problem?

Are you able to share your station name or inverter's serial number so I can look into this for you?

Prior to getting the E017, did you have any issues with the PV or any other Error codes? Have you changed any strings or anything like that prior to this happening?

Hi @eg4eric, apologies for not responding.

I am new to this forum and I assumed that I would get an email if anyone replied to this thread but I just realized I was not subscribed to it so I missed your reply.

I didn't get any other error different than E017 and I didn't change anything on the PV arrays before this issue started. I did some changes after just to make sure it was nothing on my end.

I have been talking to current connected support and they made me run some tests and I provided all the results to them. I haven't got any final answer from them yet but it seems to be a physical damage on the inverter, I think it might be the MPPT board. The last thing they told me is that they already contacted Eg4 with all the information I shared with them but they are waiting for response.

So maybe I could use your help to speed up that part on the Eg4 side, the SN for my inverter is 4413740600 and as I said all the information should already be shared to EG4 by Current Connected support but if you need more information I can provide it.

Thanks!
