I commissioned a GridBOSS/FlexBOSS21 combo with a single PowerPro WallMount Indoor, generator, and no PV yesterday.  I updated the firmware on both devices, programmed it for peak shaving, self consumption, Smart Ports etc. and it seemed to be working normally, but when I went to test Power Backup mode by flipping the main grid breaker, power went off to the home and did not come back on, even after several minutes.  I believe the front display panel on the GridBOSS had no lights, while the inverter seemed to be operating normally.  After restoring power by flipping the grid breaker, the generator turned on and ran for about two minutes without providing any power to the system.  I confirmed that it wasn't a regularly scheduled exercise time (which would have been quite the coincidence).

Power Backup and Seamless EPS Switching are enabled on both GridBOSS and FlexBOSS, and the system was switching back and forth between battery and grid as instructed by the working modes.  Has anyone encountered this issue before?  I have commissioned 18k systems in the past and not seen anything like this.

A separate but possibly related issue is that the generator is set to Generator SOC Enable (which is my preference) but even if I disable that setting I cannot enable Generator Remote Turn On and I cannot start use the Start Generator button on the Monitor tab.  In both cases I get "Operation failed, error code: 3".  This is a Generac standby with two wire start.

Could you provide the station name or serial number? We can review the settings and try to determine what might be causing the issue.

To add some more information and narrow the problem down:

It is still a little unclear what the initial issue was.  Generator SOC was enabled, and the start/stop fields were set to 40% and 95% respectively.  Battery SOC was at 36%.  When I turned off the main breaker, power to the home turned off and generator did not start.  It is possible that the two wire start connections were loose.  After discussing with Signature Solar, I believe it is possible that the system thought it was supposed to be receiving charge from the generator and put the inverter/battery into "receive" mode, because it cannot send and receive power at the same time.

Yesterday I disconnected/reconnected the two wire start and ensured good connection on the NO1 and COM1 ports.  Tested generator two-wire function by closing the circuit manually.  Battery was at 90%, generator start/stop at 25%/90%.  I turned off the main breaker and the system transferred over to battery power seamlessly: however, the generator started immediately.  After playing with several settings, I found that the GridBOSS was closing the NO1/COM1 circuit every single time the main breaker was turned off.  I tested and confirmed this via continuity tester.  I cannot find any more settings in the GridBOSS that would explain or control this, and Signature Solar support was stumped as well.  Firmware is IAAB-1300 and FAAB-2021.  Currently have a ticket open with EG4 through SS.

Same problem this morning...grid went down and backup load power went out. Battery was charged (and charging) and both solar systems were producing power.

Grid Boss + Flex Boss 21 + 2 Indoor Wallmount + AC Coupled Solar + MPPT Solar

Backup Power and Seamless EPS Switching Enabled

A/C Charge Mode and PV Charge Mode enabled (0500-1500)

Peak Shaving Enabled (1500-2100)

Self Consumption

I've tried Backup Mode but cannot set Time Of Use to make it beneficial.

I'd like to see the settings that solved this.
