@BPorter @Cowsaround

Question. Do you guys have EG4 wall mount batteries set as Lithium Type in your inverters?

Yes, mine is set to lithium and my battery is an indoor wall mount.

On Wednesday I restarted the system for a second time. Fingers crossed no blackouts Wednesday afternoon or all day yesterday. I have not gotten a "power outage" message from any of my automation so like I said, fingers crossed.

It might sound awkward, but you may try to change battery type settings in your inverter to Lead Acid and see if that changes the behavior of your system.

I have switched to Lead Acid battery type, switched all parameters from SoC to voltage and since then no single power loss issue.

Just a thought

I'm calling EG4 support again in the morning. What Voltage did you use for charging the wall mount batteries in the lead acid mode?

I remember that prior to updating the firmware I'm pretty sure the system was using Voltage for charging and somewhere in their attempt to fix the black outs they switched it to SOC.

Also the battery was on lead acid for the first month, the explanation was so it would charge/discharge many times and then they changed it to lithium. That was in December.

My current firmwares are;

FlexBoss21 - FAAP-2122

GridBoss - IAAB-1300

I am  only familiar with 6000xp with EG4 wall mount battery.

Below are my settings for Lead Acid (as per SS tech support)

BTW

For some reason I could not male it  work as per voltages when in Lithium battery mode - only SoC worked and vice versa - SoC setting did not work when in Lead Acid mode.

Maybe I'll try again in the future, but now I ma comfortable with Lead Acid battery and Voltage settings. (basically is like set it and forget it)

Just got off the phone with EG4.

By setting the battery to Lead Acid the main difference is you loose some advanced functionality. Like the ability to assign SOC differently to multiple batteries. There was something else but it didn't apply to me either so it didn't sink in. He changed it to Lead Acid as we spoke.

Crossed fingers again.

I have had the Lead Acid as my battery type since yesterday morning and no blackouts so far. (knock on wood)

i may be missing something but I see your point above about the visibility of the SOC on the phone app but it is shown on my laptops version of the Device Monitor.

Her is the link to the program as well as a photo of the screen.

For some reason I can't drop the full size screen print. It's a small file. Just open the program on your computer.

I hope it works.

Let's see if your blackouts will be gone for good with Lead Acid battery settings like in my case.

Regarding missing SoC display it doesn't show for my 6000xp based setup, neither on app not on Web Monitor when the battery type is set to Lead Acid. Your setup might have different effects on the EG4 WebMonitor

Hope these Lead Acid settings will help to solve your issues. I know how annoying it was in my case (had to put up some UPSs and whole house surge protection in Sub Panel  to protect sensitive loads)

K'

Well it's been about five weeks since I changed my Battery setting from Lithium to Lead Acid on 7/29.

My home owners insurance has always included a subscription to a device called "Ting". I keep the device plugged the in and it monitors lots of different electrical things, to prevent fires (that's why the insurance covers it).

While the "Blackouts" have not gone away they have been greatly reduced. Before I was getting one or two almost every day in July. Most of them were long enough that I needed to reset my WiFi modems. That was a pain.

Since 7/29 I've had three "Blackouts" and none of them required any WiFi resets or clock resets.

While this is better it's still not ideal.

I hope that EG4 figures this out as someday most of us are going to sell out homes and explaining this work around to a buyer would be embarrassing.

I'm going to past this thread, assuming I can figure iti out, to another thread I've been linked too.

@BPorter has this been resolved to your satisfaction? @eg4eric was the cause of this cycling problem identified? What was the resolution?

@eg4eric I am about to have GB + 2 x FB18s + 4 x 280ah wall mount indoor batteries installed. Is there any guidance available regarding getting started and what firmware updates should be applied to each component to achieve the most trouble free installation possible.

Frank, I was a newbie in November so I won't give advice on the items you on your much larger system than I have.

Reading my story above you'll see that my troubles, after seven or eight months of perfect production, started after I updated my firmware at the advice of the EG4 YouTube channel to the newest version.

I won't know if the "fix" we tried today works for a couple of days. We've thought it was fixed at least one time before.

To be clear the problems were more annoying than anything. The blackouts lasted 1-2 seconds and the power was immediately restored. I had to reset clocks and that's about it.

EG4 teck assistance agreed that the solution that K suggested above wouldn't hurt the battery or anything else so we're trying it.

Overall I'm very happy with my system.

@bporter Bill, thanks for the reply. It’s reassuring to know that you are satisfied overall.
