I’m aware that some customers were able to update the MPPT firmware successfully without PV. However, I was informed that PV must be connected to properly complete the firmware update.
The new firmware does not require any special steps to update properly.

Got it,
It seems like the safest bet is to have PV connected while there is few hundreds watts of PV production coming in....
