I've got a couple of Flexboss21 inverters and wall mount batteries. I have the batteries set to use SOC. I use the AC Charge and Peak Shaving working modes to control how the inverters act so I can minimize my electrical usage between 2PM and 7PM. I am planning to switch to the 'Weekly Set' option so I can just use Peak Shaving mode Mon-Fri. I have two issues I want to address

1. When in Weekly Set do the inverters respect the 'Battery Setting->Batt Charge Control' for whether to use SOC or Voltage to control charging? The user interface requires me to set them both in the AC Charge section to save the settings but surely it is only using one of them, right?

2. I want to charge the batteries to about 85% usually but once a week I want to charge them to 100% for a while to keep them in balance etc. I've read that this helps the battery BMS. I was hoping to be able to set the max charge for different days to different values but I don't really see how to do that. I can have the AC charge limit the max SOC on a daily basis but that won't preclude the solar panels from charging them to the max every day if I set the Battery Setting to 100% SOC.

  1. Yes, it would be using only one of them, which ever one you set
  2. As of now, there is no way to do this. You will need to change it manually. I will make a note for this and let our team know.

@mccorb As far as I know, currently you can only AC Charge up to 100% with the Weekly Set, which only gets you up to about 54 V.  Really you need to be able to AC Charge up to 101% to get the batteries up to 56 V and the BMS properly calibrated again.

@eg4eric Any chance we can get the "Stop AC Charge SOC" Values for the Weekly Set able to go up to 101%?

@david271
At this time, the weekly setting can only be adjusted up to 100%. However, you can navigate to the Working Modes page and adjust the Stop AC Charge SOC% there, which can be set to 101%.

@eg4eric Thanks, I will try that out

@david271 I would think that the charge settings in the working mode would limit the charge and you couldn't get it high enough without maybe switching away from state of charge and using voltage instead. If it does work please post back and let me know.

@eg4eric Interestingly if I try setting "Stop AC Charge SOC(%)" under Working Modes to 101% I get "Operation failed, error code: 3". I wonder if that's because I'm still running the 2122 firmware?

@david271 I'm running FAAB-2525 on the inverter and I can set it in the AC Charge mode section so maybe you are correct.

@mccorb hmmm, I'm not going to upgrade the inverter firmware right away, but I will check for sure when I do. But you say that even AC charging up to 101% doesn't get the voltage up close to 56 volts?

At the moment I'm manually switching over to charging according to voltage once a week to make sure the battery gets topped off, and then manually switching back to SOC mode so I can have a reliable cut off during discharge around 50% (winter time settings when there is not much solar to save up during the day and the battery is mostly just avoiding high TOU charges until midnight, and keeping plenty of charge in case of storm outages).

It's not great to have to manually switch it every week, but I haven't found another way, other than leaving it in voltage mode all the time.

@david271 I'm not sure. I haven't tested. I just noted that I can set the AC charge SOC to 101 as well as the battery but only if I'm using the same setting for all days. When I switch to weekly it won't let me set the AC charge SOC to 101. So far I just stuck to same setting every day and manually change it over once per week like you said. However I just started doing this and don't know if the 101% actually goes to what voltage. I would actually like to cycle my high and low settings once per week to keep the BMS tuned and batteries balanced.

@david271 I have a request to allow Charge/Discharge to be set independently to Volt / SOC.

DO you think that could offer the capability needed? Top to 56v using Volt; discharge to 50% SOC?

@powerup I'm not sure I would need that so long as the top SOC could be set to 101%. I think I just want to set the battery charge/discharge based on day of week like you can with the working mode and then allow 101%. However I'm no battery expert. It may balance better with voltage settings?

@powerup yup that would handle my situation, charging up to 56 volts and then discharging down to 50% SOC. Basically some way to get the battery completely full once a week, either 56 volts or 101% SOC would do.

@david271 I haven’t tested 101% yet. how high do have you typically get the voltage up to? >55.5 ?

@powerup Generally up to 55.8 V, when using 101% for the System Charge SOC Limit(%), with my AC coupled solar, any time other than the winter, when the solar just can't keep up with the loads. It's quite possible that the exact voltage is determined by the battery (I've got an EG4 wallmount) since it's running in closed loop when using SOC.
