I contacted EG4 technical support for an issue with my 6000XP.  The end result was they recommended that the EG4 Lithium batteries be discharged down to 20% SOC as frequently as every 2 weeks and this could be scheduled in the settings.  The call got disconnected before the issue was resolved but I was able to use what advice they provided to get my system working again.  What I didn't get from the call was the recommended method to schedule the battery discharge on the 6000XP and the more recently installed 3000EHV.  With the 2.5 hour wait time for the first call I decided to do a bit of looking around in hopes of avoiding another call.

I've searched this forum but couldn't find those settings.  I did find some discussions on forced discharge that looked promising only to find out that doesn't apply to the 6000XP, so I am pretty sure they don't apply to the 3000EHV.  I did find some discussions that recommended using voltage rather than SOC to set charge levels, but again, nothing with recommended settings.

Does anyone have specific recommendation on settings for battery charging/discharging for either of these inverters?

My 6000XP is connected to the grid and 6 EG4 LifePower4 (V2) batteries, currently without solar.

My 3000EHV is off grid with 7 Solar Panels (400W each) and a single EG4 Wall Mounted 100 Ah battery.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bob

The 6000XP does not have a specific setting to force battery discharge. An option is to increase the load demand. Since this is an off-grid inverter, it automatically prioritizes solar and battery to power the loads. When solar is unavailable, the inverter will draw power from the battery to support the loads.

It would basically be the same for the 3000EHV.

@eg4eric can you tell me specifically how to increase the load demand?  Which settings specially?

You would need to increase your loads at home. Turning on more things like lights, appliances, etc.

@eg4eric

I can probably do that with the 6000XP but if I don’t change any settings it will still charge to 99% from the grid.  After I add the 9 panels I can set the grid charge differently than the PV.  But I’d still need to change settings.

 The 3000EHV has almost no load as it’s in an off grid garage and only powers 4 LED lights, 2 garage door openers and a trickle charger for car battery.  So I’d have to alter settings in that too.  Over night the SOC goes down to about 85% and this time of year is fully charged by 10am at the latest.
